Super cool place right outside my apartment that I finally visited!! Very friendly staff and a very quiet place that’s very grounding. I look forward to seeing what exhibits are coming in January
I came really anticipating an amazing visit given the reviews but frankly I was underwhelmed. Sparsely filled with various art exhibits centered around using different materials and in many cases, recycled materials. The staff were very nice but the curation of the artifacts seemed a bit disjointed. The most impressive aspect of the museum was the building and the location. Only open Thursday-Sunday from 11-5p. Admission free.
MOCA is a gem in Cleveland. Exciting and thought-provoking exhibits are all throughout the building. The staff is helpful, friendly, and very personal. You can tell the hiring team has taken time to hire diverse people represent the art and establishment. This added touch is welcomed and appreciated. You can visit MOCA and it be appropriate for either a solo trip, date night, friend outing, or family event.
I can't say enough Great things about MoCA and their staff. They are true cultivators of Art and Serve the community while educating and inspiring. Bring your kids, to as a date, bring a friend. Learn something new and explore some incredible art made by phenomenal people
Wow! It’s a great place to visit and it is free. Great architecture of the building itself plus great exhibits. Staff very friendly and will help with any questions. The park around the building is great to enjoy some sun!
Terry Joshua’s “The Pinkest Hue” is a experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. I enjoyed every aspect of the exhibit from the moment I walked in I was greeted by the very friendly staff who directed me to the exhibit I also was greeted by the legend himself Mr. Joshua with such kindness and generosity. I have visited many exhibits before but this one specifically has accomplished something in which many of the others haven’t which was touch my soul, heart and mind. The whole experience was very enjoyable from the vivid colors, powerful imagery ,heart felt poems and the synonymous themes showed through out his art work. The exhibit had such a profound effect on me that I revisited the exhibit for a second time. I feel truly blessed to have had the chance to experience the exhibit and it’s something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
I love that it's free... art is a beautiful language and should be free and accessible to all.
I love the recommendation of starting at the fourth floor and working your way down so you can enjoy the architecture and design of the building itself. Both bathrooms on the third floor were broken, kind of awkward as it was leaking into the toilet bowl upon entry and didn't flush afterwards :// (12/29/22 - it could be fixed after this date)
My personal opinion is that I found there were too many immersive content where you had to sit, watch and/or listen to a video explaining the art piece. I genuinely enjoy walking to each art piece on the walls, reading its origin and small foot notes, then making my own interpretations about the art work... and moCa only had about a handful of that.
This is a cool building inside and out. It is clean and definitely embodies the "less is more" concept.
*After moCa replied informing me of the art change, I appreciate and love that new art is introduced semi-annually.
Really worth visiting. Contemporary art not too hard to absorb. Experience during walking thru inside circulation here also nice.
